andrewnoakes.com was written and coded on a pair of Apple Macs - an eMac G4/700 running Mac OSX 10.2.8 'Jaguar' and a Powerbook 1400c/117 running OS8.6. 2001 With no real objective in mind except a bit of fun, I set up a couple of very simple pages at www.andrewnoakes.co.uk (now defunct). August 2002 The first serious attempt at a site for me and my partner, wine writer Paula Goddard, at www.pgan.com. October 2004 The first version of andrewnoakes.com goes live. The code was written using the excellent freeware Taco HTML editor in HTML4 February 2005 All the pages were converted to use XHTML1.0 and use CSS for layout. The XHTML/CSS pages are far easier to code than equivalent HTML pages using tables for layout, and are typically 30% smaller giving an improvement in download times. June-July 2007 The site is reconfigured to run on the Joomla! content management system, making updates far simpler and quicker. Paula also now has a Joomla!-powered site, paulagoddard.com |
